Our Vestry

The vestry is composed of 12 members, each of whom serve three-year terms, with four being elected each year at the annual parish meeting. The officers are senior warden, junior warden, treasurer, and register and are elected annually by the vestry members. Together with the rector, the vestry is the governing body of the parish. 2016 St. Francis Vestry

LeslieSiegmundLeslie Siegmund and her husband, Jack Mathias, have been attending St. Francis since 1992. Their daughters, Amelia and Lucy, grew up attending Sunday school, acolyting, and singing in the choir. Leslie has participated in and, with her husband, led a number of St. Francis activities over the years, including the Fair and Gala. She served on the Search Committee that called Penny to St. Francis and served as Treasurer for several years. She was instrumental in establishing the Creche and then served on that Board. She continues to serve on the Altar Guild and Outreach Committee. Outside of church, she is a freelance editor and writer, having left a full-time career as a senior communications manager in government consulting in 2014. This vestry term for Leslie began in 2014, and she now serves as Senior Warden as well as liaison for Personnel/Staffing and Communications.

MikeS.Mike Shuler joined St. Francis and the Episcopal Church in 1992 and raised three children at St. Francis. Mike has participated in and led many activities at St. Francis including chairing the Gala (twice), The Stewardship Committee (twice), and the Evergreen Committee. Mike is a Principal at Avison Young, a national commercial real estate brokerage firm as a result of selling his firm to them in 2011. Mike started his term in 2015 and serves as the Junior Warden.



RickEntsmingerRick Entsminger and his wife, Sarah, joined St. Francis in the spring of 1988 and were received into the Episcopal Church in the fall of 1988. They were married here in October 1988. All three of their children have been lifelong members of St. Francis. Rick is a long time Lay Eucharistic Minister and now also an acolyte. Involved with Troop 55 as a uniformed leader and troop committee member, he then served as the parish's Chartered Organization Representative for the three BSA units chartered by St. Francis. He previously served on the Vestry for a three-year term in the early 90s. He has chaired the Stewardship and Budget Committees, co-chaired the Country Fair, taught Sunday School, co-chaired the Gala Auction as well as countless other activities. He is a Vice President and Regional Partner with Elm Street Development in McLean. Rick received an engineering degree from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He began this term on the vestry in 2014 and now serves as Parish Treasurer and Annual Giving liaison.

PamC.Pam Cooper is serving her third term on the Vestry and is the current Vestry Register. She is an attorney practicing in communications law. Pam began attending St. Francis in 1991 when she and her husband Dave, moved to Great Falls and she transferred her membership from St. Andrew's in Arlington in 1992. Both of their sons, Jeffrey and Michael, were baptized and attended Sunday school at St. Francis. Pam has taught Sunday school for many years, served in leadership positions with the Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops sponsored by the church, led committees and volunteered at the Country Fair, and the 40th and 50th Anniversary Celebrations. She currently coordinates the Lay Eucharistic Ministry and the St. Francis Helping Hands Ministry.


KathyAnderson2Kathy Anderson has made St. Francis her spiritual home since 1996 with her husband, Dana, and their two children, Quinn and Jared. Over the years her volunteer activities have included: coordinating Tables of Ten; chaperoning a youth ski trips; chaperoning a youth mission to Honduras; planning, hosting, and presenting for the Annual Women's retreat at Shrine Mont held each Spring; leading and participating in the Stephen Ministry Program for six years; organizing the "country lunch" for the Country Fair for ten years; presenting a course on contemplative prayer at St. Francis in 2010; and starting a centering prayer group here this past fall. After working in the hospitality industry for Marriott in Sales and Marketing for ten years, Kathy decided to stay at home and raise her children. Her second career was teaching preschool at the United Christian Parish Preschool in Reston for 12 years in addition to all her volunteer work. She began her vestry term in 2014 and serves as one of the liaisons for Pastoral Care and Education.

lynBLyn Beer came to St Francis through the back door, joining the Early Bird Breakfast Group, in 1992. She was baptized in 1996 and later that year confirmed. Lyn met Lori Beer, a long-time member, at St Francis. They were married in 2002 by John Millen. Together they have 6 children and 4 grandchildren. Over the years, Lyn has been involved with many of the St Francis activities: Early Bird Breakfast Group, EYC, Tables for Ten, the Country Fair, Gala which she co-chaired twice and Shrine Mont, co-chairing it twice, as well. She's active in Outreach and Altar Guild, enjoys the cooking sessions, and started the Mighty Walkers of St Francis. Her newest endeavor at St Francis is creating a Newcomers Committee. Outside of St Francis, Lyn is a kitchen & bath designer who owns her own business. Lyn's vestry term began in 2015.


DennisF.Dennis Findley and his late wife began attending St. Francis in 1990 and wed shortly thereafter. Widowed in 2010, Dennis is the father of twin boys. He coordinated the first parish pictorial directory in 1992. As an architect, he has been involved in numerous church projects, from planning alterations to classrooms to accommodate the preschool, leading the design for the church sign, sketching out ideas for "what-if" and "could-we-do" projects, to routine maintenance and unexpected repairs. He served on the Creche Preschool Board during its formative years from 2001-2004, and supported Boys Scout Troop 55 as a parent volunteer when his children were scouts. He received architecture degrees from Auburn and Harvard Universities. He is president of his own architectural firm, was a candidate for national elected office in 2010, and serves on several state, county and local public boards. Dennis was elected to the vestry in 2015 and is serving his first term.

JoshuaKimpicSang Joshua Kim has been a member of the St. Francis parish since 2010 and has been serving on the vestry since 2016. In addition, Joshua has been serving on the Giving Committee since 2015. Joshua's family members have been actively involved in various capacities at St. Francis. Elizabeth, his wife, teaches Sunday school children while their three children, Jamie, Jody and Elliot, are involved in choir and acolyting. Prior to St. Francis, Joshua attended the Holy Cross Korean Episcopal Church in Falls Church with his family for over ten years, having his three children baptized there. Professionally, he has been an IT entrepreneur, founding several companies and is currently working for the US PTO. Joshua holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Master of Science from Stanford University. As a native of South Korea, he speaks fluent Korean as well.


KarlaKarla Larson was raised in Kansas City, Missouri where she met Rick Larson in high school and was baptized and married at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. In the course of nearly 30 years in the Air Force our family of two daughters has had the opportunity to attend church in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa. After moving to the Washington area in 1997 we picked St Francis as our church home. Karla is an usher and a member of the Altar Guild. Karla believes that St Francis provides a caring community that shall continue to grow, provide a place for all its members and reach out to others in the immediate area as well as those in the world who may be without the benefits and blessings we enjoy. Karla serves as Worship liaison while serving her first term from January 2016.

 

PerkinscroppedC. Scott Perkins is a lifelong Episcopalian and became a member of St. Francis in 2015. He continues to participate in the choir and on the Outreach Committee and is parish rep to the Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington. Away from church, he has just left the financial-services industry following a career in the airline industry. Scott began his three-year term on the vestry in 2016 and is the liaison for Outreach.
