Shrove Tuesday Family Pancake Supper
Tuesday, February 28 -- 6:00
As we have for over 20 years, the Men's Group will host their traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper in Millen Hall. Children and adults of all ages are welcome. Come and enjoy those things (like pancakes with syrup, chocolate morsels, nuts and other goodies - not to mention sausage) that you may be giving up for Lent (which starts the next day). Or if you're not giving them up, come anyway and enjoy a good meal cooked and cleaned-up by someone else. (Moms, take the night off - you more than deserve it!). Admission is free although small donations to help offset the cost are appreciated.
Dinner will be buffet-style, and as much as you can eat, including gluten-free options courtesy of David Lucey. This year, for the first time, we will have music to contribute to the conviviality and to our mindfulness of the season approaching. The early birds come at 6 p.m. - but come when you can. Dinner will be served until 7 p.m. after which time the Boy Scouts will descent upon us like Egyptian locusts and quickly devour up all remaining food.
Any questions, contact Phil Pifer. We hope to see you there!

Ash Wednesday Services
Wednesday, March 1 -- 7:00 am and 7:30 pm

Morning Prayer at St. Francis
Thursday, March 2 - Friday, April 14 -- 8:30 am during the season of Lent
This a Benedictine inspired prayer service that was the most often used by the Anglican Communion from the restoration under Elizabeth I until the second half of the twentieth century. It is a wonderful Lenten discipline taking about twenty-five minutes to complete. It will be read, rain or shine, congregation or no (only the reader is required, though prayer supporters are always welcome). Please come and join in.

Lenten Programs Begin
Sunday, March 5 at 5:00

Samaritan Ministry Next Step Breakfast
Thursday, March 16, National Press Club
The emcee this year is Washington Post columnist Petula Dvorak. There is no charge for the breakfast; and this is a good way to show the continued support of St. Francis for a group that the church helped to establish more than 30 years ago. Transportation will be provided from St. Francis to the event, which is from 7:30 am to 9:00 am. For additional information, please contact Scott Perkins (ohio4csp@hotmail.com).

Habitat Looks Ahead
On March 4, we'll have our third build day of the year. The volunteer list has been full for many weeks, and many interested Franciscans weren't able to join in due to demand. We're happy to say that we've agreed with Habitat NOVA on a schedule of build days for the remainder of 2017. We will have one build day per month, and in the second quarter (Apr - Jun) two of the 3 will be Saturdays!

We will announce the dates and locations of our 2nd quarter builds in early March, and open them up for volunteers to register online. So, stay tuned. And to stay closer to the info, please let Phil Pifer (philipjpifer@mac.com) or Barney Thomson (thomsonbarney@verizon.net) know that you are interested in staying abreast of Habitat activities, and we'll put you on the email distribution list.
