SPECIAL OUTREACH DRIVE
To Help People in Puerto Rico

The St. Francis Outreach Committee is partnering with Scout Troop 55 in collecting crucial supplies for people in Puerto Rico, who have been devastated by earthquakes and aftershocks. The supplies we collect will be delivered to Puerto Rico by a local non profit, United - DMV (which stands for DC, MD, and VA). Since the need in Puerto Rico is immediate and critical, there is a very short time frame for the drive, which begins now and ends on Wednesday, January 29.
Here is the list of new and gently used camping and survival supplies being requested:
Flashlights
Batteries
Sleeping bags

Preparing for Valentine's Day 2020:
Sunday, February 9th is Valentine Box Day!
This annual St. Francis tradition was started by the Episcopal Church Women many years ago. It has always been well received by our college and boarding students and military and Foreign Service personnel living away from their church home. It is a nice way to keep in touch and send a little love in the form of snacks and supplies; additionally a letter from clergy is included and Valentine cards can be added, as well.
***Please send addresses for all recipients to our parish administrator at admin@stfrancisgreatfalls.org by Friday, February 7th. Recipients with food allergies need to have boxes packed by and handled with care by their parent please. ***
Join us in the Nursery rooms after the 10:00am service on Sunday, February 9th, as many hands make quick work so packing goes quickly. We will follow-up with a pot luck lunch and some fellowship time in Millen Hall.  Drop off snacks, baked goods individually wrapped, toiletries and school supplies (all labeled "for Valentine Boxes", please!) at the church kitchen. Consider also, a donation (suggested $5 to $10; note the "Valentine Boxes" on check) to off-set the shipping costs.  Please join us and help pack the boxes! Bring something for the pot luck to share! For questions or additional information: Sandy Smith rsmith186@cox.net (703) 408-6832 or (703) 437-0141.

Outreach Collections

Below you will find information on the current opportunity to help others in need.

The Gospel of John – Family Lenten Potluck Suppers and Movie Viewing
Sundays – February 14th & March 13th –5:00-7:00 PM

In preparation for Holy Week, we invite you to experience the Gospel of John in its entirety. Please join us on Sunday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Mar. 13 for a viewing of the 2003 film, "The Gospel of John."

Bring the whole family as well as a dinner dish to share--either a main dish, salad or side, or dessert. Paper goods and soft drinks will be provided. We will begin with a potluck dinner together in Millen Hall. After about 30 minutes, children will head to a different location to watch a different movie. Adults and teens will watch a portion of The Gospel of John. Older children may decide to watch with us.

The film is not so much "based on" John's Gospel as it is a visual depiction of the Gospel. Dialogue and narration have been taken, word-for-word, from the American Bible Society's Good News translation of the Fourth Gospel. The film is directed by Philip Saville and narrated by Christopher Plummer. Actor Henry Ian Cusick delivers a compelling performance as Jesus, both human and divine.

Follow the journey of Christ as the Word made Flesh from his baptism in the Jordan River; through his Seven Signs; his teachings; his arrest and execution; and his resurrection and the Great Commission. The clergy will guide brief discussions at points in the film.

Want to come but can't attend both sessions? Come for as much as you are able. For more information, please contact The Rev. Tracey Kelly at tkelly@stfrancisgreatfalls.org
