Is this a busy time of year?

FRANCISCO-fact: Is this time of the year busier than most for St. Francis?

St. Francis’s public services are busiest from the beginning of October, which is when the church’s patronal feast day is celebrated, through January 14, the back end of which includes Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, and the start of the season after the Epiphany. We breathe a little bit between the middle of January through Ash Wednesday, which is February 22 in 2023. Then from Ash Wednesday through the Feast of the Resurrection (Easter Day), which is on April 9 in 2023, we run through Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. During those times we do a lot of liturgies.

From now until December 25, we do have a great deal going on, especially in the next few weeks, so mark your calendars:

  • Sunday, November 6, is all Saints Sunday with the 10:00 AM Eucharist supported by the Rutter Requiem and the slide show of the faithful departed.
  • Sunday, November 20 has two big events:
    1. Stewardship ingathering. We are asking all parishioners, especially in-person attendees, to submit their pledges during the services at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM and blessing those commitments on the altar during the Eucharist.
    2. Thanksgiving Meal with our two Afghanistan households in Millen Hall after the 10:00 AM service. Sign up to bring a dish to share and show Thanksgiving for the new lives of the family here in Northern Virginia! CLICK HERE FOR SUG

Keep watch for announcements about our Thanksgiving Service on Thursday, November 24; making Advent Wreaths on Sunday, November 27; and Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 3.

There is a lot that happens at St. Francis, and we want to share our fellowship with you!
