I moved with my family to Great Falls in 2008. Our first mission was to find a church which felt welcoming and familiar to us since we had grown up in the Anglican church in South Africa and Australia and the United Methodist church in Canada.

We felt right at home at St Francis, with the people, with the service and all the many programs and activities in which the family actively participated. Our youngest daughter Emma was fortunate enough to experience the incredibly nurturing Creche, and I later went on to become a Creche board member and the chair of the Creche board.

I was a Sunday school teacher for a couple of years which was fun to get to know the children in our church and to learn together. In the years when St Francis held a Country Fair, I chaired it together with Lois Willcox for a very successful fair.  This was a huge undertaking but so rewarding for the church and for the community. I have chaired the Breakfast With Santa event for a few years which has also increased in numbers and is a very worthwhile fundraiser for our Outreach program recipients Housing Up and Samaritan Ministry. I am currently the membership chair of the Great Falls Citizens Association which keeps me up to date on most issues our community is facing.

This year I hope that by being a part of the vestry I will be able to contribute my time and past experiences to the church and increase our activities in pastoral care and Christian fellowship. I especially look forward to the day we are all back together worshiping in our places in the pews and seeing fully the faces of our wonderful community.

I am very excited over an opportunity to serve as a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church Vestry! This would be a truly humbling experience for me. As a parishioner during the period prior to building our church I became part of the leadership team that assisted in making the transition to our beautiful new church structure successful. Since that time, we have added a Parish Hall and significantly expanded our overall Outreach Programs.

With key leadership experiences over the years including recently serving as a member of the St. Francis Finance Committee, Chairman of the 2020 Stewardship Committee and a member of the Weekly Offering Accounting Team I have gained valuable knowledge of our many Programs and Services. This has afforded me significant growth and expertise in the areas this position requires. In retirement I am now in a position to have the time talent and with great enthusiasm to serve God, this great congregation and the surrounding community in a way that has never been possible for me in the past.

Together we can help our strong and highly significant ministry bring God’s word and gifts to our congregation, the Great Falls Community and beyond. This last two years have been challenging! We have met new opportunities head on and now we will transition into a declining Covid and related environment over the months ahead. This is a significant time in our church history and being part of this growth experience is significant and quite frankly Unbelievable!
