- Christmas Gift DrivePlease help children in Samaritan Ministry and Housing Up families have a Merry Christmas. Sadly, we will be unable to have our traditional Christmas party and “toy shop” this year due to the risks of COVID, RSV, and flu. Outreach Program Spotlight
Samaritan Ministry
Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington was founded by St. Francis and 11 other Episcopal Churches in 1986 to work with people suffering from homelessness and poverty and help them put their lives on track through an innovative Next-Step program. As part of our ongoing support for Samaritan Ministry’s outstanding work, St. Francis is holding a drive to collect essential items for the homeless and impoverished participants in its programs.
Second Story
Second Story transforms the lives of children, youth and their families by providing safe havens and opportunities for them to grow and thrive. Our programs provide support at critical turning points in their lives.
South Sudan
St. Francis Church supports discrete projects in two different areas of South Sudan. We have a covenant with the Anglican Diocese of Ezo, a remote area lacking basic services, where we help to increase clean water, medicine, education, and nutrition. We also helped establish and provide continuing support to the St. Francis Basic School in Juba, the capital of South Sudan. The school provides education and food to several hundred students.

St. Francis Outreach Mission
To identify needs in our community, our area, and the world where our financial commitment and hands-on involvement aid in alleviating human suffering, empower those in need to become self-sufficient and strengthen the love of Christ in both the people we touch and within ourselves.

Each year the Outreach Committee promotes specific outreach projects and facilitates parishioner involvement. These projects include meals for the Salvation Army Grate Patrol, food drives for local families in need, school supplies drives, an annual Christmas toy drive and party for Samaritan Ministry and Housing Up families, a diaper drive for a local shelter, Sunday dinners for Second Story’s teen shelter, and tutoring in Anacostia.
